Job Description

The Remote Accounting Assistant will provide day-to-day support to the Finance Department in managing accounts, processing transactions, and maintaining records. The ideal candidate has strong organizational skills, proficiency with accounting software, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

• Process invoices, receipts, and expense reimbursements accurately and promptly.
• Record journal entries and maintain financial ledgers.
• Assist in reconciling bank statements and credit card transactions.
• Help prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports.
• Support grant tracking, donation reporting, and expense allocations.
• Maintain accurate digital files of all financial documentation.
• Communicate with vendors, staff, and partners regarding payments and budget inquiries.
• Assist with audits and ensure compliance with internal accounting procedures.

Skills & Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 2+ years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting support role.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks , Excel , and/or other accounting software.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
• Excellent communication and time management abilities.
• Comfortable working remotely and managing tasks independently.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with nonprofits or grant-funded organizations .
• Familiarity with Google Workspace , Bill.com , or similar financial platforms.
• Knowledge of basic GAAP accounting principles.
