Political Canvasser

Compensation: $25 per hour

Reports To: Field Director

North Shore Strategies is seeking motivated and professional Political Canvassers to support our grassroots field efforts across Chicago, Evanston, and Skokie, IL . The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic, outgoing communicator who is passionate about civic engagement and committed to advancing Democratic causes. As a Political Canvasser, you will be on the front lines of our campaign operations — having direct conversations with voters, collecting petition signatures, and helping to build momentum for candidates and initiatives.

About the Role
As a Political Canvasser, you will play a critical role in the democratic process by engaging voters through face-to-face interactions. You’ll deliver key campaign messages, collect and verify petition signatures, and help drive support for Democratic candidates and progressive issues. Your outreach will directly shape voter engagement and campaign success in the 2025 cycle and beyond.

Primary Responsibilities

• Conduct door-to-door voter outreach and petition signature collection.
• Deliver persuasive and accurate messaging about candidates and ballot initiatives to educate and mobilize voters.
• Accurately record daily canvassing data and submit detailed reports to the Field Director.
• Consistently meet or exceed outreach, engagement, and signature collection goals.
• Represent North Shore Strategies with professionalism and integrity in all public interactions.
• Attend required trainings and team meetings to stay aligned with campaign messaging and field strategy.
• Foster positive interactions with voters to promote long-term community trust and campaign visibility.

• Must be a registered voter in the state of Illinois.
• Able to work a minimum of 3 shifts per week .
• Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
• Excellent verbal communication skills and comfort engaging with new people.
• Reliable, goal-oriented, and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Willing and able to canvass outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions.
• Prior experience in canvassing, petitioning, sales, customer service, or community organizing is a plus but not required.
• Strong belief in progressive values and civic participation.
• Capable of meeting deadlines and achieving performance targets
