Communications Coordinator to join our team. We are committed to fostering an exemplary learning community where all students can maximize their learning and achieve success. We are looking for an individual who is driven to develop engaging content and strategic campaigns that build the District's brand locally, regionally, and nationally, and help shape the narrative about public education and District 214's innovative solutions for student success.
Our Ideal Candidate: - Possesses strong writing, editing, and video production skills, with a genuine commitment to showcasing the District's achievements.
- Is eager to serve as the main point of contact for media, securing strategic placements to tell compelling stories.
- Is dedicated to managing department projects and leading storytelling content development across all digital platforms.
Responsibilities: - Serve as the main point of contact for media, leading local, regional, and national media pitches, and managing internal news and content curation.
- Develop, write, and edit all types of content, including media pitches, blog posts, website content, social media, talking points, white papers, and newsletters.
- Manage branding, marketing, and communications projects, serving as the lead for content development and project management.
- Manage, develop, and direct social media and digital content efforts, including video and photography, and oversee day-to-day social media accounts.
- Utilize mass notification systems and email platforms to keep stakeholders consistently informed.
- Write, edit, and send newsletters, and lead internal and external communications.
- Oversee the day-to-day management of content for District, school, and associated websites to ensure timely and accurate updates.
- Meet regularly with school and district stakeholders to address marketing and communications needs and conduct research for planning.
- Assist with crisis communications, issue management, policy, and legislative initiatives.
- Review and analyze analytics to modify strategies and tactics, ensuring marketing and communications efforts reach intended audiences and meet strategic objectives.
- Ensure communications are translated into necessary languages and meet ADA requirements on websites.
- Manage weekly and annual content planning calendars.
- Assist in the coordination of FOIA requests, award programs, and community engagement events.
- Manage assigned community engagement and outreach programs, initiatives, and events.
- Provide communications training on websites, mass notifications, newsletters, media, and best practices to staff.
- Utilize various content generation tools, train staff on usage, and stay aware of marketing and communications trends to infuse best practices.
- Engage in professional development related to school public relations, branding, marketing, and communications.
- Attend all Board of Education meetings and events, and be available nights and weekends as needed to support the school district's work (e.g., covering events, emergency situations).
- Perform other tasks assigned by the Director of Community Engagement and Outreach.
Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree and experience in journalism, media, marketing, public relations, or related fields.
- Strong writing, editing and video production skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines.
- Excellent people and communications skills.
- Demonstrated social media and marketing savvy.
- Growth and collaboration mindset.
- Customer service focused.
- Demonstrated expertise in being a team player.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office, Google Suite, Adobe products, and generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and related platforms.

- Ability to work occasional nights and weekends as needed.

SALARY: Supervisory Grade Two Salary Range - $72,007 - $90,009 to be adjusted for 2025-2026; Plus Excellent Benefits Package
