Direct Care Staff - Emergency Shelter (Haverhill, MA)

Amergis Healthcare Staffing is working with a respected non-profit organization in Haverhill, MA to fill a Direct Care position at their emergency shelter for homeless adults. This fast-paced overnight shelter serves 40+ individuals nightly and is seeking an energetic, supportive, and committed individual to join their team.

The facility is open to training and supporting the right candidate to grow into the role.

Position Details

• Location: Haverhill, MA

• Facility Type: Emergency Homeless Shelter

• Schedule: Monday - Friday, 2:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.

• Duration: 13 weeks to start, with strong potential for extension

• Pay Rate: $20-$22/hour (based on experience)

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with daily operations of a 40+ bed adult shelter

• Manage referrals, screenings, and guest intake processes

• Maintain detailed shift logs and incident reports

• Monitor guest safety and address concerns as needed

• Coordinate volunteer meal preparation and ensure timely delivery

• Participate in on-call rotation

Qualifications

• 1+ year of direct care experience preferred (not required)

• Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail

• Ability to read, write, and speak English; Spanish bilingual preferred

• Valid driver's license

• Must pass CORI and driving record checks

• Physically able to walk stairs and lift/move up to 30 lbs

• Fully vaccinated for COVID-19
