**Job Overview:**

H.O.M.E., Inc. is seeking a full time Shelter Support Staff member for our Ellsworth based shelter for the following shift:

  • Monday - Friday 2nd shift 3:00pm - 10:00pm (35 hours/week).

Support Staff are responsible for ensuring a safe and secure environment for all shelter guests. Candidates should have a caring heart and be comfortable maintaining good boundaries while helping people in crisis. The Shelter Support Staff should be able to work independently as well as with a team. Experience in a helping profession preferred. Experience working in residential programs, a plus.

**Duties: **

  • Provide general oversight and supervision to shelter guests to ensure their compliance with program guidelines and to ensure their well-being and safety.
  • Engage in and coordinate activities with shelter guests.
  • Maintain security of the building by completing security checks as needed and monitoring security system and entry door.
  • Provide information and resources to members of the community via telephone and/or face-to-face.
  • Complete sign-ups for Emergency Food Box program.
  • Receive donations and provide receipts as needed.
  • Supervise guest medications.
  • General office duties, i.e. answering telephones, taking messages, making photocopies, sending faxes, for guests if asked etc.
  • Complete other general paperwork including phone logs, chore sheets, bed logs, etc.

Second shift Shelter Support position starts at $17/hr.

Full-time employees are eligible for health insurance, receive accrued vacation and sick time as well as paid time off for 13 holidays (including birthday).

EDUCATION, TRAINING, & OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working in social services or customer services.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge including Microsoft Office, Google docs.
  • Ability to interact well with guests and members of the community.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries.
  • Ability to show compassion and consistence and firmness while enforcing program guidelines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
