POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Complaints and Audit Unit Manager, this position assumes primary responsibility for the management of the investigatory process involving complaints against certified/licensed professionals and individuals practicing without certification. Oversees the investigative process, from initial investigation through final disposition, analyzing the complaint, conducting the investigation, writing investigative reports and charging documents, presenting investigation findings at regulatory Board meetings, and testifying at hearings, while ensuring the protection of the public and due process for the certificate holder/licensee.
In addition, this position will perform compliance audits, including on-site and desk audits of certified entities and licensed individuals. Analyzes and evaluates operations with emphasis on compliance with statutes, court orders, program rules and administrative codes including the Code of Conduct. Assists in selecting entities and individuals to be audited and recommends strategies for conducting the audits. Assists other compliance auditors, investigators, and the complaints and audits manager in developing audit and investigation processes.
This position will review complaint and compliance audit cases with the unit manager, in-house counsel, counsel from the Attorney General’s Office, division director, deputy director and the profession’s board. Recommends appropriate action for the resolution of each case. Additionally, this position will act as the initial contact point with the public, judicial officers and court administration, respond to public requests for information on complaints, assist in developing policies and procedures and training development for certification and licensing programs on issues related to investigations or the complaint and audit process.
This position may be eligible for a hybrid-telework schedule once the employee has completed three (3) months of employment and has sufficiently proved their ability to perform assigned tasks.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
The successful candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in political science, business, public administration, accounting, finance, or related field and three years’ experience in a related field. Directly related experience may substitute for a degree. This position requires experience working in an operational review field, including auditing; effective written and oral communication skills, including report writing and interviewing techniques. The ability to understand and apply Arizona laws, including Arizona Revised Statues, Arizona Code of Judicial Administration and Arizona Rules of Court. Also, the ability to work effectively with applicants, judicial offices, staff, attorneys, and the public.
Additionally, this position requires strong research, tracking and critical analysis skills, demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making abilities, and the ability to exercise good judgment, have a creative approach to problem-solving, and be able to effectively work with other staff.
Travel level: 5-10% (within Arizona)
