Life Engagement Director
Position Summary:
This position will provide leadership and resources while actively serving the residents of their community through the six dimensions of life: social, intellectual, emotional, spiritual, physical, and dignified personal care. Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the designee will provide regular contact with the residents through individual and group activities.
This is a full-time position that may require weekends, holidays, and/or evenings.
Required Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age or a high school graduate and
- Current and valid state driver’s license.
Brief Description of Duties:

Establish a functional recreation program with a therapeutic approach.
*
The activity program must contain a balanced mixture of activities addressing the social, emotional, spiritual, physical, intellectual needs of our residents.
*
The activity program must provide opportunities for residents to engage in one-on one, small group, and large group activities throughout the course of the scheduled shift.
*
Leading & carrying out the objectives of the
*
Promote, plan, and carry out a full recreation program.
*
Designee must review each resident's medical and social history, as well as update resident’s preferences, likes, and dislikes, in determining appropriate activities for the resident. Activities must be tailored to the residents' unique requirements and skills
*
Monitor and evaluate resident response to program inclusion and resident safety.
*
Will oversee the development of the community’s engagement team (this includes the engagement assistants and/or engagement coordinator.
*
Resident engagement and activity participation will document in a timely manner, on a daily basis.
*
Maintain supply inventory & organization of activity supplies.
*
Coordinates with outside groups and organizations to arrange programs for residents.
*
Responsible for the recruiting, training, supervising, & assisting volunteers, therapeutic recreation internships or students
*
Responsible for incorporating intergenerational opportunities for the community.
*
Attend corporate compliance training and adhere to the policies and procedures. This also includes monthly staff trainings & bi-monthly conference calls.
*
Communication with team regarding potential health concerns/changes in the physical or mental condition of residents.
*
Assist in marketing responsibilities (i.e. taking inquiries and/or giving tours) when management, marketing, and/or team leaders are not available.
*
Creating & updating the monthly activity calendar.
*
Assisting residents with meals. This also includes snacks & drinks throughout the day.
*
Assisting residents with completion of self-care and/or occupational activities of daily living, as needed.
*
Assisting in the transfer and/or lifting of residents as needed.
*
Researching & presenting new activity ideas.
*
Ability to participate in resident outings.
*
Updating the engagement spotlight board. This consists of the monthly calendar, newsletter, entertainment announcements, birthdays, & etc.
*
Picture Board/E-mailing pictures; Marketing manager may e-mail families for you. Otherwise you can do it as needed.
*
Special event planning. This consists of resident birthdays, community parties, etc.
*
Resident birthday- unless noted in resident charting or communicated via the resident’s responsible party, we will celebrate resident birthdays.
*
Holiday Parties and Other-Will provide at least 4 events per year where families are invited. Consult with community manager(s) on date and time. Typically, the party occurs near Easter, 4th of July, Thanksgiving, & New Year’s.

Must be able to speak & hear well enough to verbally interact with residents, families, staff, and visitors.
*
Must be able to see well enough to read and write English, use a computer, and visually interact with residents, families, staff, and visitors.
*
Must be able to exert 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10-25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
