Job Title: Machine Shop Operations Manager

Job Description:

Theoris Services is assisting our client in their search for a Machine Shop Operations Manager. This role is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the machine shop’s operations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in CNC machining, strong leadership skills, and a proven track record in production management and lean manufacturing practices.

Responsibilities:

• Open and close the plant daily, ensuring readiness and security.
• Develop and execute action plans to achieve production goals and drive operational excellence.
• Create and manage weekly production schedules, ensuring on-time delivery and efficient resource use.
• Oversee purchasing and inventory of materials, tooling, and consumables.
• Maintain OSHA compliance and enforce 5S workplace organization.
• Perform quality inspections and resolve technical inquiries or quality concerns.
• Drive continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.
• Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and operational programs.
• Program and assist with CNC machines (Mazak and Okuma experience a plus).
• Manage equipment maintenance to minimize downtime.
• Lead, train, and mentor shop personnel; manage performance and coordinate training.
• Support customers with technical queries and delivery quotes.
• Provide labor estimates for RFQs, manage budgets, and monitor KPIs.

Requirements:

• Associate’s Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field
• Minimum of 10 years of machine shop supervisory experience
• CNC machine programming experience (Mazak preferred)
• Experience with AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks
• Knowledge of tooling and fixture design
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
• ERP system experience preferred
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing practices
• Experience with 5S and OSHA standards
• Experience developing and implementing SOPs and operational programs
