Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

The Process Engineer will support product and process technology development for JST Manufacturing in the semiconductor equipment industry. Responsibilities include qualifying tools, running experiments, troubleshooting equipment issues, and performing technical analysis at both customer sites and in the JST Applications Lab. The role involves travel and working with various chemicals and metrology tools.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Operate JST equipment in the Applications Lab and at customer sites to qualify tools per specifications.
  2. Conduct wafer processing and run experiments for product development, engineering testing, and customer demos.
  3. Troubleshoot equipment issues and collaborate with Field Service Engineers (FSEs) and other engineering staff.
  4. Handle and work with chemicals used in the semiconductor manufacturing process.
  5. Analyze process data, including particles, metals, organics, surface roughness, and uniformity.
  6. Utilize metrology tools for wafer surface characterization (e.g., surface scanners, thin film measurement tools, SEM, ICPMS, AFM, XPS).
  7. Make technical presentations to customers, JST management, and at technical conferences.
  8. Travel 25-50% to customer sites for tool qualification and technical support.
  9. Contribute to team effort by achieving results. Work cooperatively with team members, communicate design constraints, and work within the team to achieve solutions.
  10. Able to work in various positions such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, laying, reaching with hands and arms, grasp, handle and operate hand and tools, as well as welding equipment.
  11. Responsible for other duties and task as assigned and, in some circumstances, may be completely unrelated to this position.

JOB REQUIREMENTS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCES

  1. Bachelor's Education: BS or MS in Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Chemistry, or a related field.
  2. Experience: Semiconductor industry experience is preferred but not required.
  3. Technical Skills:
    1. Proficiency with office products (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
    2. Basic analytical skills to interpret and analyze process and metrology data.
    3. Familiarity with semiconductor manufacturing metrology tools.
  4. Soft Skills:
    1. Excellent communication skills for interfacing with engineering teams and customers.
