UX Specialist – Government Projects

Austin, TX (Must live in Texas, preferably near Austin city limits)
Hybrid/Full-Time | State of Texas Contract | No Sponsorships (U.S. Citizens or Permanent Residents only)

About the Role:

Our client (HHSC) is seeking a UX/UI Specialist to support government enterprise systems with a focus on user-centered design . In this role, you will design user experiences and interfaces that are intuitive, responsive, and accessible, ensuring that applications meet both state agency standards and user needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design UX/UI interfaces for web and mobile systems with accessibility in mind.
• Develop wireframes, prototypes, and design mockups using tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, or Sketch.
• Apply UX principles (hierarchy, alignment, contrast, usability) to system designs.
• Collaborate with technical teams, business analysts, and stakeholders to translate requirements into user-focused solutions.
• Support Agile projects by evolving designs from concept to final implementation.
• (Preferred) Facilitate design workshops and feedback sessions with agency staff.
• (Preferred) Create visual diagrams of workflows, timelines, and system architecture.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 11+ years of UX/UI design for enterprise systems.
• 10+ years applying UX design principles to create intuitive, responsive, and accessible solutions.
• 10+ years experience with wireframes, prototypes, and Agile/SDLC environments.
• Strong experience collaborating with diverse, cross-functional teams.
• Proficiency in modern design tools (Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, or similar).

Preferred Qualifications:

• 5+ years creating visual diagrams for workflows or system architecture.
• 3+ years leading or facilitating design workshops .
• Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, HCI, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Strong multitasking ability to support multiple projects at once .

Eligibility Requirements:

• Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (required for state/government clearance – no sponsorships allowed ).
• Must reside in Texas ; preference for candidates near Austin city limits .
