The Director of AI Risk and Policy will lead the implementation and oversight of Schwab's AI risk management strategies. This role collaborates closely with legal, risk, and compliance teams to ensure alignment, enhance existing processes, and embed responsible AI practices across the organization. By working in partnership with these functions, this role aims to create a unified approach to AI risk governance, helping Schwab proactively manage risks while enabling innovation. **What you'll do:** + Develop and execute a comprehensive AI risk management framework that complements existing risk, legal, and compliance efforts. + Define policies, standards, and best practices for AI ethics, privacy, and security. + Partner with legal, risk, and compliance teams to address AI-specific regulatory requirements, ensuring that efforts are collaborative and mutually supportive. + Act as a resource to legal, risk, and compliance functions, providing expertise in AI technologies and their implications for policy and risk management. + Collaborate with external stakeholders, including regulators and industry groups, to stay ahead of emerging AI risks and compliance trends. + Prepare regular reports for senior management on AI risk metrics, incidents, and trends, ensuring transparency and alignment with existing governance processes. + Prepare materials for Schwab's AI Council, composed of senior leadership, to support key decision-making on AI policy, governance, and strategic priorities. + Promote a culture of ethical AI use by partnering with cross-functional teams to drive awareness, education, and training initiatives across the organization. + Serve as a subject matter expert for AI governance, ensuring that AI risk management practices evolve with the latest advancements in technology and policy. **What you have** **Required Qualifications:** + Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Risk Management, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred. + 8+ years of experience in risk management, compliance, or a related field, with at least 3 years focusing on AI/ML systems. + 3+ years of experience Demonstrated expertise in AI/ML technologies, frameworks, and their ethical, legal, and societal implications. + 5+ years of Proven experience developing and implementing risk management frameworks in collaboration with legal, compliance, and risk teams. + 3+ years of experience with Strong knowledge of regulations and standards related to AI ethics, privacy, and security. + **Preferred Qualifications:** + Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. + Strong leadership and communication abilities, with experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams. + Certifications such as Certified Information Systems Risk Manager (CISRM) or similar are a plus.
