Position Overview

JBAndrews have partnered with a small group of veterinary hospitals who are seeking an Regional Medical Director to lead the medical operations and clinical development across their general practice San Francisco Bay Area clinics . In this leadership role, you'll directly oversee 5+ hospitals, supervise a group of Veterinarians and collaborate with the Area Clinic Manager and cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional patient care and uphold top notch medical standards.

Reporting to the VP of Medical Operations , this role involves coaching and mentoring veterinary leaders while ensuring continued, responsible growth. This is a field-based position , with approximately 80% of your time spent in clinics supporting teams and practicing as needed

Key Responsibilities

Medical Leadership

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to veterinarians, promoting continuous learning and professional development
  • Foster a culture built on curiosity, integrity, and clinical excellence
  • Maintain and elevate quality standards across medical services and procedures
  • Perform regular clinical reviews and provide feedback to ensure consistency and quality of care
  • Act as a key resource for complex medical cases and escalated concerns

Clinic Support & Team Development

  • Partner with the Area Clinic Manager to co-lead teams and align medical and operational goals
  • Participate in the recruitment, onboarding, and growth of new doctors, including mentorship for recent grads or new leaders
  • Coach doctors on time management, workflow efficiency, and client communication
  • Lead performance management processes and support clinics through periods of change or growth
  • Cultivate a psychologically safe and inclusive environment where teams can thrive

Clinical Operations & Strategic Growth

  • Work closely with regional and support teams to enhance patient care and client experience through new programs and initiatives
  • Help implement new tools, workflows, and medical systems
  • Support regional hiring strategies and workforce planning
  • Monitor key clinical performance metrics and use insights to coach teams toward continuous improvement
  • Collaborate on clinic operations, schedules, and DVM staffing
  • Play a key role in launching new clinic locations, including hiring, training, and instilling their values from day one

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of veterinary experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership or multi-site operational role
  • DVM or equivalent from an AVMA-accredited program, licensed to practice in the U.S.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and coaching skills
  • Willingness to travel up to 80% within the San Francisco Bay Area, with occasional out-of-state travel for events or training
  • Must reside in or be willing to relocate to the Bay Area
